A dynasty is a line of monarchs descended from the same family, often under a monarchical system but occasionally even in republics. In addition to these names, dynasties can also be referred to as "houses," "families," or "clans." Three notable kings made up the Maurya dynasty: Chandragupta, his son Bindusara and Bindusara's son Ashoka. One of history's greatest emperors was Ashoka. More than 2300 years ago, he ruled the kingdom founded by his ancestor Chandragupta Maurya. An intelligent man by the name of Chanakya or Kautilya supported Chandragupta. A book called the Arthashastra contains a lot of Chanakya's concepts. Hence the answer is a "dynasty."
