The meaning of “democracy” is that the rulers are elected by the people. It is a system of government in which the people have directly or indirectly decided leadership, policies, laws, and central undertakings of a state or other polity. In a democracy, people lead the country by choosing representatives of their interest who had candidature for elections. Also, elections in a democratic country are held after equal intervals (every five years in India) so that if the citizens are not satisfied with their chosen representative, they can provide the opportunity to some other candidate through their voting right.
