Detailed Solution

The meaning of liber is free.
1)      Liber-free: Liber means "free" in Latin. The word comes from the root of liberalism. It was the political philosophy of the new growing middle class in France and Europe, where people desired more control over themselves and question authority.
2)      Elle-The cloth measure: Elle was a standard unit of measurement used across the German Confederation's states. It was primarily used to determine how long a piece of cloth should be. It was decided to measure the length of the fabric from elbow to fingertip.
3)      Le Citoyen- the citizen: In French, the term "le citoyen" refers to a person who is a citizen. During the revolution, nationalists began using this word to describe the people to instil a sense of identity and loyalty to the country.
4)      La Patrie-The fatherland: In French, the word " La Patrie" signifies "fatherland". It was a term that originated during the revolution, similar to Le Citoyen, to symbolise everyone's common nationality and forge a sense of attachment to the nation, the fatherland.
