Let suppose there is a triangle ABC.
Now drop a perpendicular AP from A on the base BC,

AP ⊥ BC

Here, AD is the median of the triangle.
So,

BD = DC

[As, D = mid - point of BC]

Here, multiply the both side by AP,

\Rightarrow BD \times AP = DC \times AP

\Rightarrow \frac{1}{2} \times BD \times AP = \frac{1}{2} \times DC \times AP

\Rightarrow ar (△ ABD) = ar (△ ACD)

(since, area of triangle =

\frac{1}{2} (base \times height)

So, the resultant triangles we get has equal area.
