Detailed Solution

Concept: Mesenteries are double layers of peritoneum in the abdominal cavity.

They are in continuation of the visceral and parietal peritoneum with serous membranes stacked back to back making the outer mesothelium secrete serous fluid into the peritoneal cavity which in turn decreases the friction between adjacent visceral surfaces and allows movement of the organs occurring during digestion.

It is a fold of membrane which attaches the intestine to the abdominal wall and holds it in place.
