Detailed Solution

Given,

Molar mass of CO = 12 + 16 = 28 g/mol

Moles of CO = 14 ÷ 28 = 0.5 moles

0.5 moles of CO = 0.5 × 6.022 × 10²³ molecules.

(a) 14 g N₂ + 8 g O₂

N₂ = 14 ÷ 28 = 0.5 mole

O₂ = 8 ÷ 32 = 0.25 mole

Total = 0.75 mole

(b) 7 g N₂ + 8 g O₂

N₂ = 7 ÷ 28 = 0.25 mole

O₂ = 8 ÷ 32 = 0.25 mole

Total = 0.5 moles

Same number of molecules as CO.

(c) 14 g N₂ + 16 g O₂

N₂ = 0.5 mole, O₂ = 0.5 mole, Total = 1 mole

(d) 7 g N₂ + 16 g O₂

N₂ = 0.25 mole, O₂ = 0.5 mole, Total = 0.75 mole

Final Answer:

The correct option is (b) 7 g of nitrogen + 8 g of oxygen as it contains the same number of molecules as 14 g of CO.
