Empirical formula weight (E.F.W) of CH2
 12 + 2   14 g
And the molecular weight of the compound is calculated by the formula,
Molecular Weight = 2 × Vapour density
 2 × 21  42 g
Now, we divide the molecular weight by the empirical formula weight, to obtain the subscript which will be multiplied by the empirical formula to obtain the molecular formula. So,
n = M.V/E.F.W
 4214
3
Hence molecular formula will be,
 (CH2)n  (CH2)3
 C3H6

Hence, C3H6is the molecular formula of the compound.
