Detailed Solution

The moon does not rotate on its axis but revolves around the earth.
The Moon rotates by its axis, but it will take a longer time compared with the Earth's rotation. The Moon almost takes approximately 27 days (precisely 27.3 days) to rotate by itself. One can not see the back of the Moon because the Moon completes its rotation on its axis while revolving around the Earth. Due to this, the same portion of the Moon always faces the Earth. It is known as Tidal locking. Due to this, we shall say the Moon does not rotate but revolves around the Earth.
