Detailed Solution

The most devastating Natural Calamity, Bengal Famine, occurred in 1943.
Due to the dramatic increase in the price of rice, agricultural labourers, fishermen, transport workers, and other casual workers are most affected. This famine affected India's lower Gangetic plains, including the Bengal and Bihar regions, in 1943. Around 10 million people died of starvation. This famine started with the failure of the monsoon, which caused droughts.
The causes of famine are malnutrition, population displacement, unsanitary conditions, and lack of health care—diseases like malaria and cholera.
Impacts of Bengal famine: due to malnutrition and widespread disease, the Bengal famine resulted in higher death rates and increased infectious diseases. People started migrating; women were subjected to increased exploitation, skimpy clothes due to starvation, etc.
