The movement in Nepal was to Establish Democracy.
In April 2006, Nepal encountered a popular political movement. The movement planned to establish democracy. Citizens battled to recapture control of the government from the lord. Nepal gained a democratic government in 1990. After that, the ruler became the official head of state. However, the actual power remained with the political representatives. King Birendra accepted the transition to democratic government from the monarchy. Tragically, he and his whole family were slaughtered in 2001. The new lord selected was King Gyanendra, but he was not prepared to acknowledge the democracy-based rule. In February 2005, he excused the Prime Minister from his service and broke down democracy. Due to this situation, citizens started a movement to restore democracy.
