Detailed Solution

The movement to restore democracy in Nepal started in the year 2006.
After the takeover of the government in Nepal by king Gyanendra who refused to accept the democratic rule and constitutional monarchy as well. He dismissed the democratically elected government and dissolved the Parliament. He seized power in February 2005. Seeing their democratic rights getting suspended, people in Nepal started a movement in April 2006 against the monarchy and presented three demands; a new Constituent Assembly, restoration of Parliament, and power to an All-Party Government. The campaign was led by the Seven Party Alliance (SPA), which Maoist groups also joined. They first called for a four-day strike in Kathmandu, the capital city.
