Detailed Solution

The last Mughal emperor was Bahadur Shah Zafar, who supported the Revolt of 1857. He was an aged and powerless man in the 1800s. The rebels in 1857 marched to Delhi and proclaimed the last Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar as their leader. Bahadur Shah Zafar too supported the revolt. When the rebels declared him the leader, wanting the Mughal reign he also wanted to become the Emperor of India and re-establish Mughal rule with all the glory and pride. He believed by supporting the rebels it would bring back the glory of Mughals.
