Detailed Solution

The Mughal ruler, known as the “engineer king,” was Shah Jahan.
Unlike Jahangir, Shah Jahan was a prolific builder who took an active interest in architecture. Mughal architecture and art reached stellar heights during Shah Jahan’s reign. Marble was his favourite building material. Akbar’s and Jahangir’s buildings are massive and bulky, but Shah Jahan’s constructions are slender and graceful. They are also delicate and highly ornamented. Persian architectural styles greatly influenced him. He was fascinated with the pietra dura inlay technique, which utilised semi-precious stones like topaz and lapis lazuli, which were embedded in marble to decorate the building’s walls. Some of his beautiful constructions include the Jama Masjid, the Taj Mahal, and his city Shahjahanabad.
