The name of ‘Mary Mallon’ is associated with the disease

Mary Mallon worked as a cook, and was a typhoid carrier who transmitted the disease for numerous years through the food that she cooked. 

She was nicknamed Typhoid Mary.
 

Salmonella typhi is the pathogenic bacteria that causes human typhoid fever. These pathogens usually enter the small intestine through contaminated food and water, and then spread to other organs via blood.
