Detailed Solution

In the 1920s, the National Archives of India was established in Delhi. When New Delhi was constructed, the Viceregal Palace was not far from the National Museum or the National Archives. In the opinion of the British, all significant papers and letters should be properly preserved. They built record rooms that were connected to all administrative buildings. There were record rooms at the local tahsildar's office, the collectorate, the commissioner's office, the provincial secretariats, and the courts. Specialised organisations such as archives and museums were also founded to preserve valuable records. The National Archives still contain letters and memos from the early nineteenth century that were passed from one branch of the government to another.
