Detailed Solution

The National Assembly in France passed a decree abolishing the feudal system of obligation taxes in the year 1789. The power of rebellious French subjects confronted Louis XVI, who eventually recognised the National Assembly and accepted the principle that the monarchy's powers would be constitutionally limited. On August 4, 1789, the Assembly voted on a decree abolishing feudalism in terms of duties and taxes. The clergy were also forced to give up their rights. Titles were abolished, and the lands of the church were confiscated. France became a constitutional monarchy.
