Detailed Solution

The National Jute Policy, to increase the production for Indian farmers, was formulated in 2005. At a time when the jute industry was experiencing stiff competition from synthetic alternatives and competitors such as Bangladesh and Brazil. The government mandated the use of jute packaging due to the growing global concern for environmentally friendly and biodegradable materials. The jute fibre is primarily removed through retting.Retting is wrapping the jute stems together and then soaking them in slow running water. Jute is known as the "Golden Fire" because it is a natural fibre with a golden and silky lustre. The bark of the white jute plant is used to extract jute.
