Detailed Solution

NREGA 2005 aims to guarantee the right to work and improve livelihood in rural areas. Some provisions of this act are:
1)      Any person above 18 years of age residing in a rural area is eligible to apply for work.
2)      The work is to be provided within a 5 km radius of the person's residence. If it is beyond 5 km, extra allowances are paid.
3)      The state governments determine a statutory minimum wage and the wages are paid weekly. The weekly wage cannot be below Rs 60 per day. At present, it is above Rs 200 per day in almost all states.
4)      The person will get the work within 15 days of applying, subject to the limitation of 100 days in a financial year.
