Detailed Solution

The Nawabs of Awadh and Bengal attempted to abolish the jagirdari system.
By limiting the number of officeholders (jagirdars) that the Mughals appointed, the Nawabs of Bengal and Awadh attempted to abolish the jagirdari system to lessen Mughal dominance in the two provinces. Jagir sizes also decreased, and they filled open positions with their own trusted employees. The accounts of the jagirdars were investigated to detect fraud, and officials selected by the Nawab's court reevaluated the earnings of all districts. Murshid Quli Khan ordered a thorough reevaluation of Bengal's income to lessen the Mughal power there. Additionally, he moved every Mughal jagirdar to Orissa. All zamindars' fees were rigorously and exclusively collected in cash. Due to this, many zamindars were forced to borrow money from banks and moneylenders.
