Detailed Solution

The newspaper started by Bal Gangadhar Tilak was the Kesari.
Many attempts were made to overthrow the East India Company. The East India company was worried that such criticism might be used by its critics in England to attack its trade Monopoly in  India. Many nationalist newspapers gave numbers in all parts of India despite repressive measures by Britishers. They reported on colonial misrule and encouraged many Nationalist activities in all parts of the country. This in turn led to renewing the cycle of protests and persecution. When Punjab revolutionaries were deported Bal Gangadhar Tilak wrote with great sympathy about them in his newspaper Kesari in 1907. Due to this, he was imprisoned in 1908, on the account of provoking widespread protest all over India.
