Detailed Solution

The process of converting the nitrogen from the atmosphere to nitrogenous compounds and cycling or transferring it to the atmosphere, soil, and organisms is known as the nitrogen cycle. The nitrogen present in the atmosphere is converted into the forms that can be absorbed by the plants through their root system. This absorbed nitrogen is transported from roots to the shoots with help of xylem. The nutrients in plants either go back to the soil when the plant dies and decomposes or are transferred to the animals or organisms that consume plants.
