Detailed Solution

The Non-Cooperation movement was launched in the year 1920 by Mahatma Gandhi. The failure to grab the attention of the British towards constitutional reforms in India forced Gandhi to launch an all-India movement against the policies of the British. This was the first wide mass movement and Gandhi's experiment to test how the Indian masses would fair when it came to an all-India agitation against the British aiming swaraj. Gandhi called the movement off when the masses committed violence in the Chauri Chaura village.
