Detailed Solution

Mahatma Gandhi decided to call off the Non-Cooperation Movement in February 1922 after the Chauri Chaura incident. On 4th February 1922, a violent mob set fire to a police station that killed 22 policemen during a clash between the police and protesters of the movement in Chauri Chaura. Gandhi felt that the movement was turning violent, and there was a need to train the Satyagrahis properly before they would be ready for mass struggles.
