During a chemical reaction, only the rearrangement of the atoms occurs.
The number of atoms of each element in the reactants and products remains the same in a chemical reaction.

For example 2H2(g)+O2(g)2H2O(l)

In this reaction, we have 4 hydrogen atoms and 2 oxygen atoms on the reactant side and we have the same number of both atoms on the product side also.
