The number of boys and girls in a class are in the ratio 7:5. The number of boys is 8 more than the number of girls. The total strength of class is 48.
It is given that he ratio of boys and girls in class is 7:5, i.e.

Let the number of boys be 7x and number of girls be 5x.
It is also given that the number of boys is more than the number of girls.
So, Number of boys= Number of girls +8.
Substituting the values in above equation.
7x=5x+8  
Simplifying,
7x-5x=8
2x=8
x=4
Substituting the value of x in 7x=5x+8  .
Number of boys will be,
