Detailed Solution

The number of electrons in 15.4 g of carbon tetrachloride are 4.456 × 1024.
Number of moles of CCl4= Mass of carbon tetrachloridemolecular mass of CCl4
                                      = 15.4154
                                      = 0.1 moles
1 mole of CCl4= 6.022 × 1023molecules
0.1 mole of CCl4 = 0.1 x 6.022 x 1023 molecules
                        = 6.022 × 1022 molecules
We know that one molecule of carbon has 6 electrons and one atom of chlorine has 17 electrons.
Therefore,1 molecule of carbon tetrachloride will contain = 6+ (4×17)                                                                                          = 74 electrons.
Number of electrons in 6.022 × 1022 molecules of carbon tetrachloride are equal to the product of the number of electrons and Avogadro’s number.
 74 ×6.022 × 1022
 4.456 × 1024electrons.
