The number of envelopes that can be made out of a sheet of paper 3 m 24 cm by 1 m 72 cm, if each envelope requires a piece of paper of size 18 cm by 12 cm is 258.
Given a sheet of paper having dimensions 3 m 24 cm by 1 m 72 cm.
As, 1 m = 100 cm.
Length of sheet is,
= 300 cm + 24 cm
= 324 cm
Breadth of the sheet is,
= 100 cm + 72 cm
= 172 cm
Area of the sheet is,
=length×breadth  
= (324×172)c m 2   Area of each envelope is,
=length×breadth  
= (18×12)c m 2   Number of envelopes is,
= Area of sheet Area of paper required   = 324×172 18×12  
= 258
Envelopes that can be made from a sheet of 3 m 24 cm by 1 m 72 cm are 258.
