Detailed Solution

Concept- In the modern periodic table, there are 18 vertical columns called groups and 7 horizontal rows called periods
According to modern periodic law, the parcels of rudiments are repeated after regular intervals when all rudiments are arranged in order of their adding infinitesimal figures.
The cause of periodicity in parcels of rudiments is due to the reiteration of analogous electronic configuration after certain regular intervals.
Valency is the capability of titles to form bonds by losing, gaining, or participating in electrons. Ongoing from left to right along a period, valency first increases from 1 to 4 and also decreases from 4 to 0. This happens because in ages, nuclear charge increases on going from left to right, so titles or electrons tend to gain electrons. Whereas on going down in a group all rudiments will have the same valency because they all will have the same number of electrons in their remotest shell.
The metallic character decreases on going from left to right in a period. This is because infinitesimal size diminishes and effective nuclear charge increases. Thus, electrons aren't fluently released and therefore metallic character tends to drop.
As we move down within a group, the infinitesimal size of rudiments increases with an increase in infinitesimal number. This happens because a new energy shell is added to each succeeding element. As a result of this, the magnet of the nexus for valence electrons decreases, and hence the infinitesimal compass increases.
Hence, the correct option is 1.
