Detailed Solution

The oil in chocolates comes from Sal seeds. The forest was an important resource for timber extraction. The British regarded the forest containing different trees as invaluable. Instead, they promoted deodar and sal cultivation. The sal tree was extremely important as:
1)      Sal seeds were used to extract oil used in chocolates.
2)      They were extremely important for railways. The sleepers of railways were made from the sal wood which kept tracks intact.
3)      Wood was also utilized for the fuel in the railway engines.
The forests of Sal and Deodar were reserved by the colonial government. External interference in forests was prohibited by the government through legal procedures. These forests were regarded as the best forests.
