Detailed Solution

The other name of the Jacobins was Sans-culottes.
The political clubs had an important role in the revolutionary movement, where the discussion was held about government policies, and they planned their form of action. One such political club was the Jacobin club, whose name was the former convent of st. Jacob in Paris. The members of the Jacobin club belonged to the less prosperous class, including small shopkeepers, artisans, watch-makers, and daily-wage workers; their leader was Maximilian Robespierre. A large group of Jacobins started wearing long striped trousers similar to that of dock workers to set themselves apart from the higher class, especially nobles, who wore knee breeches. Jacobins came to be known as Sans-culottes, meaning ‘those without knee breeches. It symbolises the end of power wielded by high-class people. They also wore a red cap that symbolises liberty.
