The overall current in the circuit = 9A (Given)

The voltage is 12 𝑉 (Given) 

Hence by Ohm’s Law, 𝑉 = 𝐼R

The resistance for the entire circuit is

R=129 R=43Ω              ......... (a)

R1 and R2 are in parallel. 

 Therefore, R=R1R2R1+R2              .......... (b)

Putting the value of 𝑅 = 4Ω(Given) in equation (b)

R=4R24+R2            ........ (c)

Putting the value of 𝑅 from equation (a) in equation (c)

  43=4R24+R2

16+4R2=124R2

  R2=2Ω
