Detailed Solution

The Pala dynasty was founded by Gopala.
From the eighth to the twelfth centuries, Bihar and Bengal were ruled by the Pala dynasty. Gopala, a local chieftain who came to power in the middle of the eighth century amid turmoil, was the dynasty’s founder. Dharmapala, his successor, significantly grew the dynasty and, for a period, ruled over Kannauj. Devapala, who conducted raids in the north, the Deccan, and the peninsula, helped to maintain Pala power. However, after his reign, the dynasty lost ground, and Mahendrapala, the Gurjara–Pratihara emperor of Kannauj in the late 9th and early 10th centuries advanced as far as northern Bengal.
