The Panchayati Raj system plays a vital role in the healthy functioning of democracy. It helps democracy to achieve decision-making and policy-making at the grassroots level. There are  Three Levels of Panchayatsssi Raj Institutions in India, followed by many states. Gram Panchayat, Panchayat Samiti, and Zila Parishad. Each village is divided into many wards. All town people who have attained the age of 18 years are eligible to vote in the election of panch and sarpanch. Sarpanch is also known as the gram panchayat president. The Panchayat president has the right to address the gram sabha meeting and agree on the decision for the vital development of the village. The panchayat secretary also helps the panchayat president in such matters.
