In south India, there exists a tri-partite struggle. Tri-partite struggle means a fight between three parties. The parties were Gurjara-Pratihara, Rashtrakuta, and Pala dynasties. These dynasties battled for control over a place called Kanauj in the Ganga Valley. Dantidurga founded the Rashtrakuta dynasty. And the Pala dynasty was founded by Gopala. Nagabatta I founded the Gurjara-Pratihara dynasty. Besides battle, they tried to demonstrate their power and resources by building temples.
