Detailed Solution

The pattern of the net sown area is over 80per cent of the total area in Punjab and Haryana. The total geographical area of India is approximately 3.28 million sq. km. distributed among different states. The land use data reported by the Ministry of Agriculture in 2017 is available for only 93 per cent of the total geographical area. The land use reporting for most northeastern states except Assam has not been fully processed. The percentage of the Net Sown Area in India comes to about 54 per cent of the total reporting area. The pattern of net sown area differs greatly from state to state, where states such as Punjab and Haryana have over 80 per cent net sown area to the total area than states such as Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands to only 10 per cent.
