The peasants of Konkani region welcomed the Dhangar cattle herders. Dhangars were the pastoralists community of the Maharashtra region. By October, Dhangars finish harvesting the Bajra and begin to head west. After at least a month, they arrive in Konkan. Dhangar flocks feed on stubble and fertilize the field in the Konkan area. The peasants in this tract welcome the shepherds. Because the cattle from the Dhangars assisted in cultivating their fields, the local Konkani farmers welcomed them there.
