Detailed Solution

The people of Iran and Greece called India, Hindos.
India and Bharat are two words frequently used to describe the country. The word India is derived from the Indus, which is known as Sindhu in Sanskrit. The Iranians and Greeks who came through the northwest around 2500 years ago and knew about the Indus called it the Hindos or the Indos, and the land east of the river was called India. The name Bharata was given to a group of people who lived in the northwest and are mentioned in the Rigveda, the earliest Sanskrit composition (dated to about 3500 years ago). It was later used for the country.
