The phenomenon of bending of light as it moves from one medium to another is known as the Refraction of light.
The reason for the refraction of light is that light travels at different speeds in different mediums. This change in the speed of light when it travels from one medium to another causes it to bend. Likewise, refraction occurs due to a change in the speed of light when it enters from one medium to another.
