Detailed Solution

The phenomenon which makes us see advanced sunrise and delayed sunset is atmospheric refraction.
Sunrise happens just after the sun reaches above the horizon. Due to refraction or bending of light through the earth's atmosphere, it appears that light rays have reached 2 minutes of the earth's atmosphere. Hence, it results in an advanced sunrise. Similarly, sunset happens when the sun reaches just below the horizon due to the atmospheric refraction of sunlight. Due to this phenomenon, we can see the sun for about 2 minutes even after sunset. Hence, it results in a delayed sunset.
