The phrase "Unity in diversity" was coined by the foremost prime minister of India, Pt Jawaharlal Nehru. He was aware of the complex diversity in Indian society. He claimed that his goal was to accommodate diversity by representing all of society's segments. The constituent assembly had people from all walks of life; its members were from different social backgrounds and cultures. It was our first-ever mini-parliament.
