Detailed Solution

Concept: When a wave encounters a medium with a different speed, it bends; when light travels through a material with a different density, it simply deviates from a straight line. This is known as refraction.
Rectangular light propagation
Rectilinear propagation refers to the tendency of Electromagnetic Waves (light) to move in a straight line.
Method of using a pinhole camera
When the shutter is opened, light passes through it, imprinting a picture on the photographic paper or film that is set up at the back of the camera. The rectilinear light theory, on which pinhole cameras are based, assumes that light moves in straight lines. As a result, the camera's image appears to be upside down.
Furthermore, it is clear from the preceding explanation that the pinhole camera works on the principle of rectilinear light propagation.
Hence, the correct option is 3.
