Detailed Solution

The Planning Commission was set up in 1950. The government of India set up the Planning Commission. After independence, there was a need to develop the people's lives in India by removing poverty and building a modern technical and industrial base. For this achievement, the Indian government set up a planning commission to help design and execute suitable policies for the development of the economy. The Second Five-Year Plan was formulated in 1956. This was mainly focused on the development of heavy industries such as steel.
