Detailed Solution

"The Poona Pact" took place in September 1932. The Dalits were in the depressed class association in 1930, organised by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. At the second round table conference, he clashed with Gandhi by demanding separate electorates, and it was accepted by the British government. However, Gandhiji was against this because he thought that the unification would slow down, and he began a fast unto death. After that, Ambedkar accepted Gandhiji's demand, and it came with the result of the Poona Pact (September 1932). In this, the reserved seats were provided to the depressed ( now known as the Scheduled Castes) in government provincials, but they were to be voted in by the general electorate.
