Given, Initial population of the city = 25000

and the Final population of the city = 24500

Decrease in population in the city= Initial population – Final population

= 25000 – 24500

= 500

Then,

Percentage Decrease in Population =  $\left(\frac{Population Decrease}{Initial Population}\right)$× 100

= $\left(\frac{500}{25000}\right)$ × 100

= $\frac{50}{25}$

= 2% population decreases.
