Force along x-axis is 

Fx=-dUdx=-ddx(6x+8y)=-6 newton

Force along y-axis is

Fy=-dUdy=-ddy(6x+8y)=-8 newton

Therefore, the x and y components of acceleration are

ax=Fxm=-62=-3ms-2 and ay=Fym=-82=-4ms-2

Resultant acceleration

a=ax2+ay2=(-3)2+(-4)2=5ms-2

The x and y coordinates of the body at time t are 

x=x0+12axt2=6-12×3×t2 =6-32t2 metre

and

 y=y0+12ayt2=4-12×4×t2 =(4-2t2)metre
