The Pradhan Mantri Gram Swarozgar Yojana was launched in the year 1999.
The main aim of Pradhan Mantri Gram Swarozgar Yojana or SJSY is to ensure that low-income families must have a monthly income of Rs 2000 so that these low-income families can fulfil the basic minimum needs such as food, cloth, shelter, education, and health and tackle the problem of poverty within three years by generating the income and assets with government subsidies through the help of bank credit systems. In addition, self-help groups are also launched.
