The President ordinance remains in force for six weeks. Under Article 123 of Indian Constitution, the President can promulgate an Ordinance. The Ordinance presented before both the Houses of the Parliament when they reassembled. If the Parliament does not approve the Ordinance, it lapses and if it is not disapproved, it will cease to operate at the end of six weeks by its own from the date the Parliament re-assembles.
