Detailed Solution

P(R) = Probability of getting road contract =23
P(B)=Probability of getting building contract=59

P(BR)= Probability  of getting at least one contract=45

P(BR)= Probability  of both getting contracts =?
By addition theorem

P(BR)=P(B)+P(R)P(BR)

45=23+59P(BR)

P(BR)=23+5945=30+253645

=25645=1945
