Concept:The process of formation of soil is called weathering.
The soil formation can occur in different ways which is called weathering.
The different ways are:
Physical: Through this process, the rocks disintegrate through mechanical ways like wind, air, water, and temperature. Because of these changes, the rocks also undergo contraction and expansion which in turn causes them to break.
Chemical: This is the way when the minerals present inside the rock undergo a reaction with the water, air, and temperature and create disintegration in the rocks.
Hence, the answer is weathering.
