Detailed Solution

The process of making silk is sericulture.
Silk was first invented by the Chinese around 7000 years ago and was guarded in the hopes of keeping with themselves, but people who travelled to foreign lands brought this silk fabric with them to these lands. The paths followed by these people came to be known as the Silk route. This knowledge of the existence of silk extends from there. This cloth was beginning to get popular among kings, but it was very expensive due to its making process and the roads travelled to trade it, people living on these roads demanded payment for the traders to pass through. Silk is made known as sericulture, where fibre from insects (silkworms) found on the mulberry tree is extracted and turned into a yarn which is finally used to make silk cloth. They are strong, soft, and shiny fabrics. Hence the answer is sericulture.
